The Official State Arboretum features over 14,500 acres of wildlife sanctuary, a landscaped arboretum and a LEED Platinum Visitor Center which features an open, airy design combining the latest "green" construction techniques, making it unlike any building in the region. Inside are exhibits for learning about Bernheim, a gift shop, and the Isaac Café. Outdoor exhibits include a canopy tree walk, scent and sound mazes and a Children's Play Garden filled with many interesting opportunities for natural play, including a giant green dragon. New trails and walkways provide visitors with many opportunities to enjoy and learn about nature. Picnic facilities and interpretive programs are also available. Open year round except Christmas & New Years.

The Bullitt County History Museum was opened in 2004 as part of a rejuvenation of the old county courthouse. Besides two display rooms, the museum boasts a salt kettle display, unique genealogical and historical research material with a room for your research. The Museum is located in the front portion of the century old courthouse at 300 South Buckman Street in Shepherdsville.

Bullitt Speedway is here to serve your slot car needs. We have three different tracks at our facility. Our largest track is a 155 foot Blue King road course with 8 lanes. Our tri-oval track has eight lanes and is 110 feet long. The drag strip is a 55 foot scale quarter-mile track with two lanes. All three tracks support the 1:24 and 1:32 scale slot cars. We also have a large inventory of parts and cars that are ready to race at our sales counter. We run series races and point races each week throughout the year. The track offers practice and tune-up time throughout the week.

The Kentucky Derby, the 1st Sat in May, kicks off the 3-month Spring race meet. (Fall meet each Nov.) Experience the thrill of the Derby every day at the Museum through the one-of-a-kind multi image show. Featured too are hands-on exhibits, art displays, a guided walking tour of the race track, restaurants and gift shops.

Operated by the KY Division of Forestry, this 1500 acre forest is open to foot traffic only. There are hiking trails and small game gun hunting. Deer hunting is open to bow and cross bow only. All hunting follows KY Fish & Wildlife seasons.
